PROFILE

Greet Vanderheyden has joined Futureproofed in June 2010. As a project and communication manager she reinforces the team in their mission to reduce human pressure on our ecosystems. She is, among many other things, very interested in sustainable consumption- and production patterns and how to communicate about them.

In 2009 she has taken up a Master’s in Environmental Sciences at the University of Antwerp, where she is following courses on ecology, policy, environmental economy and rights. This way she strengthens the Futureproofed team in a more non-technical way.

BACKGROUND

Greet started her career in a commercial function in the event- and theatre sector, spending five years prospecting and managing projects in Belgium, Paris, Moscow and Hong Kong.
After seeing the light she moved on to the environmental sector, starting with a six-months project in renewable energies (Bio Energie). After this, she worked in the Department Environment and Energy of the Federation of Enterprises in Belgium (VBO/FEB) on the organisation of the Energy Efficiency Forum in 2009. Greet then worked for nine months on a project basis for Business & Society Belgium, a business driven network on Corporate Social Responsibility. Her main responsibilities there were the organisation of the Business Awards for the Environment and the biennial forum ‘Mainstreaming Corporate Social Responsibility’.

She obtained a Bachelor’s in Communication Management (Corporate Communication) at the Plantijn Hogeschool in Antwerp in 2003.

In the very little spare time she has left Greet likes running, diving, sailing, swimming in the sea, reading and playing the piano. To overcome her fear of heights she likes to go indoor climbing.
