The Factor 10 Project
The first Factor 10 session, on April 28th at VMMa in Vilvoorde, focused on the following big idea: how can business leaders help put a stop to centuries of running our planet like a business in liquidation, by reinventing capitalism so that it leads to a restorative economy.
We structured this kick-off session following David Allen’s GTD principles to move from high-level topics down to specific business ideas and next actions.
Following the warm-up exercise, Steven Van Praet and Serge de Gheldere shared their insights on the latest developments in sustainable entrepreneurship. After a funny and enticing testimonial by host Peter Quaghebeur, ceo of VMMa, our guest speaker John Thackara inspired the audience through a video presentation on system acupuncture, the dance of the big and small, and the restorative economy,
Finally, participants got into a friendly but fierce competition to come up with a shared value business model to meet real world needs in mobility, food, buildings and materials. Each team had to pitch their business model to John Thackara, who joined us online through a multi-way videoconferencing with a 360° camera. John listened in and provided feedback on each team’s proposal.
The conference concluded with a delicious veggie walking dinner with lots of lively discussions, conspiring and planning.
Stay tuned for real-world effects of this gathering in a galaxy near you … who knows what these people are capable of.
